Evanston bridge to be lit by blue LED sculpture

A blue LED sculpture designed by an Evanston artist will light up the Custer Avenue Bridge starting Thursday.

Jim Brenner’s sculpture marks the boundary of South Evanston, according to the City of Evanston website. The Blue Line will be dedicated at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the 200 block of Custer Avenue.

The project is part of the City of Evanston’s Public Art Program, established by the Public Art Committee to find and sponsor artists that will beautify certain public spaces. Other projects include original poems on the sidewalk next to the Evanston Public Library Main Branch, The Encounter sculpture atop the Maple Avenue Garage and the Emitting Waves artwork at Fire Station No. 5.
