Aging rock stars come to Evanston SPACE

Nineties alt-rockers The Verve Pipe will perform Saturday at SPACE Evanston, 1245 Chicago Ave., for an audience younger than the band itself.

The trio, which is best known for its 1997 number-one single “The Freshmen,” released “A Family Album,” aimed at kids and their parents, in Nov. 2009.

In their 3 p.m. performance Saturday, they will play songs from it, as well as their older hits and songs from their forthcoming EP.

The Verve Pipe formed in the early ’90s, according to SPACE’s website. After “The Freshman” and their critically acclaimed follow-up album “The Verve Pipe,” the band toured the world and appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night With David Letterman.”

Tickets cost $10 for everyone.
