The Evanston Art Center, 2603 Sheridan Road, opens a new exhibition called “Through the Looking Glass” on Sunday. The center presents six to eight exhibitions each year with the goal of highlighting artists from the Midwest.
“This is kind of a special one because we are celebrating 80 years of being in existence,” Norah Delaney, executive director of the center, said.
The EAC asked six prominent artists who had already been displayed at the center to select emerging artists for this show to present the future of art. The student artists prepared projects using different media such as performance, painting and digital photography.
“There’s a really crazy variety of things,” Delaney said. “It’s going to be an interesting show.”
The center will host a reception from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. After the artists speak at 2:30 p.m., one artist will perform a piece corresponding with her art.
The event is free, but the EAC appreciates donations, Delaney said. The exhibit runs through Nov. 7.
