Bicycle rider robbed by three unknown subjects

A victim riding his bicycle in the Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue area was robbed by three unknown subjects July 15 at approximately 12 p.m., the Evanston Police Department reported.

The victim was struck and knocked from his bicycle by one subject, after which the two additional subjects took the victim’s three cell phones and BMX bicycle.

Evanston man drowns in Valley Lo Lake in Glenview

In the early morning hours of Monday, an Evanston man drowned after a canoe overturned in Valley Lo Lake in Glenview.

Andrew Porter, 29, was pronounced dead at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview at 3 a.m., the Daily Herald reported.

The Glenview Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene at 1:34 a.m. Monday after hearing a report of a person drowning in the lake, which is property of the Valley Lo Club. Upon arrival officers found five people who had been with Porter searching for their friend, the Herald said. The five were charged with criminal trespass.– Jessica Allen
