University President Morton O. Schapiro and other community members will travel to Springfield, Ill. to lobby state legislators later this month, according to a press release from the city manager.
On “Evanston Day,” Thursday, April 29, Evanston civic leaders and residents will travel to Springfield by bus, according to the release. They will depart at 8 a.m.
Following a lunch at the Governor’s Mansion, participants will meet with legislative leaders throughout the afternoon to make their voices heard “on issues of importance to Evanston,” according to the release.
Then, the Evanston delegation will attend a reception hosted by Schapiro before returning to Evanston.
The cost will be $60 per person and includes the bus trip and lunch.
