Tickets for “Ethics in Politics: An Evening with Former Governor Rod Blagojevich” sold out Monday afternoon, said Jonathan Forman, College Democrats’ co-vice president.

“We sold 950 tickets,” the Weinberg sophomore said. “Approximately 50 are being held for the press.”

The event, which will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Cahn Auditorium, has received substantial attention from national media. College Democrats has gotten interest from MSNBC, The Daily Show and other outlets with national audiences, Forman said.

“Blagojevich is a controversial figure,” he said. “We think a lot of people want to hear what he has to say and are interested in what he says.”

Other media outlets have already begun reporting about the event. U.S. News & World Report wrote about the discussion on its education blog Monday, The Huffington Post reported about the event Wednesday and columnist James Warren of the Chicago News Cooperative covered the news Friday.

Although the majority of the event will be an exchange between the former governor and the faculty panel, Forman sent a Facebook message informing students they can submit questions for Blagojevich on Facebook or bring written questions to the event.
