Tools, laundry money taken

Someone stole power tools and the contents of four laundry machine coin boxes Monday from a Davis Street business, police said.

The basement door of the business was forced open between 2 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. Tools, including a drill, and an unknown number of quarters were taken.

Police have no suspects, Guenther said. ‘

Hooded man steals woman’s purse

A man snatched a woman’s purse Monday night on the 500 block of Michigan Avenue, police said.

The woman said she was walking to her car when a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt came up behind her and grabbed the purse, Guenther said. The man then ran away.

The woman was uninjured, Guenther said. The purse contained personal items and an unknown amount of cash. -Rebecca Cohen
