The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Board on Monday unanimously approved a 2009-2010 budget, which projects less of an operating surplus than it did when administrators originally presented it in August.
As approved, the budget included $438,000 more revenue than the tentative budget presented in August, accounting for changes in state property tax policies and the awarding of local and state grants to the district.
Administrators also added teaching and assistant positions to compensate for higher student enrollment, increasing expenditures by $527,000.
The Final Budget remains balanced with an operating surplus of about $52,000 – down from the surplus of $141,000 in the tentative budget.
