Fall Quarter Begins
November: Bill Pulte and Tommy Smithburg are confirmed in the newly created roles of vice president and operations director, respectively. A controversial bill that would fund t-shirts for the ASG Senate is narrowly rejected.
December: The ASG Rideshare Web site debuts, allowing students to coordinate taxis to and from the airport for break.
Winter Quarter Begins
January: Committees unveil an off-campus housing review site and develop the undergraduate research database. ASG fails to coordinate with RHA, RCB and A&O to produce a mid-winter event with administration funding.
February: The senate spends most of its discretionary funding to preserve the Saturday intercampus shuttle’s operations. The constitution is amended, making the vice president’s status permanent, while ridding the organization of the operations director and community relations positions.
March: Parliamentarian Will Upton resigns having confessed to altering legislation without consulting the rest of the body. ASG runs an airport shuttle service to O’Hare airport at the end of Reading Week.
Spring Quarter Begins
April: Mike McGee and Tommy Smithburg are elected president and vice president, defeating Bill Pulte and Patrick Dawson in a controversial runoff. Muhammad Safdari and Matthew Bellassai win uncontested elections for academic director and student life director.
May: SAFC funding recommendations for A-status groups are approved quickly with few changes. ASG lobbied the administration on the alcohol policy and shuttle routes. A pilot “SafeWalk” program was announced for reading week.
