The Decemberists, N.E.R.D. to perform at Dillo Day

Updated May 14, 9:15 p.m.

N.E.R.D. and The Decemberists will headline this year’s Dillo Day on May 30, Mayfest announced Thursday night. The student group announced the groups’ appearance at the Battle of the Band competition at Tommy Nevin’s Pub.

In April, “Northwestern U” was listed as one of N.E.R.D.’s tour stops on the Web site for the Billionaire Boys Club, frontman Pharrell Williams’ clothing line.

According to the Web site, NU will follow concerts at other colleges including Yale, Rutgers and DePaul University in Chicago.N.E.R.D., which stands for No one Ever Really Dies, was formed in 2001 in Virginia Beach and has released three albums. The group has found success with singles like “Lapdance,” “Rock Star” and “She Wants to Move,” and released its latest studio album, Seeing Sounds, last June.

The Decemberists, an indie-rock band from Portland, Oregon, has released five albums, with their most recent, The Hazards of Love, in March. Known for their unique, storytelling nature, the band started their “A Short Fazed Hovel” Tour on March 18.

Mayfest said they would announce Dillo Day’s third headliner later on.
