Comedian Daniel Tosh will perform on campus

Posted May 12, 3:20 p.m.
Comedian Daniel Tosh will perform on May 21 in Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, A&O Productions announced Tuesday.

Tosh has performed on Comedy Central and will host a television show on the network called Tosh.0 which will begin airing in June.

Tosh has a wide-appeal, said Barry McCardel, A&O co-director of promotions and public relations.

“He’s been compared to Dane Cook,” the Communication sophomore said. “But people who are sick of Dane Cook or maybe don’t like him will enjoy Tosh a little more.

Still, his brash, over-the-top comedy is different from Demetri Martin, who A&O brought in February, said A&O chairman Adam Pumm.

“Tosh hasn’t had quite the same level of exposure as Demetri,” the Weinberg junior said. “But once people see him or look him up on Youtube, they’ll want to go to the show.”

Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. A yet-to-be-announced speaker will open for Tosh, Pumm said.

Tickets to see the past three comedians brought to campus have sold out, McCardel said.

“There is obviously a high demand for comedy on campus,” McCardel said. “We wanted to keep answering that demand.”

Students will be able to purchase tickets for $10 online at the Norris Box Office Web site this Saturday at 10 a.m. Two tickets will be allowed per NetID.
