N.E.R.D. lists NU on its calendar, Mayfest cannot confirm

Updated 9:45 p.m. Last May, N.E.R.D. joined Kanye West and Rihanna to perform at the Glow In the Dark Tour at the United Center. One year later, the alternative hip-hop group has listed “Northwestern U.” on its Web site.

Katherine Hadley, co-chair of Mayfest, could not confirm.

“They can post anything on their blogs and it doesn’t affect them contractually,” she said.

The director of the Center for Student Involvement who advises Mayfest, Helen Wood, could not be reached.

NU is listed as one of N.E.R.D.’s tour stops on the Web site for the Billionaire Boys Club, which is frontman Pharrell Williams’ clothing line.

According to the Web site, NU will follow concerts at other colleges including Yale, Rutgers and DePaul University in Chicago.

N.E.R.D., which stands for No one Ever Really Dies, was formed in 2001 in Virginia Beach and has released three albums. The group has found success with singles like “Lapdance,” “Rock Star” and “She Wants to Move” and released their latest studio album, Seeing Sounds, last June.
