While some Northwestern students are still figuring out what to do with their lives after graduation, Weinberg freshman Eugenia Miranti is on the fast-track to fulfill her goals of working in a medical field.
As a student in the Honors Program in Medical Education, Miranti is guaranteed acceptance into the Feinberg School of Medicine. This means that she will complete her undergraduate studies in three years.
But Miranti wants to go a step further by applying to Feinberg’s Medical Scientist Training Program. This would include two years of medical school, four years of doctorate work and an additional two years of medical school. Add on a residency or research internship, and that makes about 15 years of higher education.
“Thinking of almost doubling my lifespan in school is definitely weird,” Miranti said. “In a way, I think the process will be worth it, though. I like the school environment.”
As a commuter student, Miranti spends less time on campus than most college students
