How would you like to save $1,270 on a ski vacation? Sounds too good to be true right?
Wrong. For the past 6 months, Northwestern’s Ski and Snowboard Club has been working tirelessly towards one goal – providing NU students with the most affordable and enjoyable ski trip possible.
On a daily basis we work with a partner tour company, transportation providers, resorts, property management companies and NU staff to continue one of the few NU traditions that cuts across the boundaries dividing North campus and South campus, frat guys and theater majors, athletes and library dwellers. Ski trip is one of the few uniquely “Northwestern” events that brings students together, and it is our goal to get as many people on the slopes as possible.
The Daily pointed out that a trip price of $460 might exclude many students from attending the trip (“Skiers, boarders to pay more for trip,” Oct. 22). As an unemployed senior looking for a job during a recession, I understand that coughing up $460 isn’t an easy thing to do.
But I also decided to do a little research and booked my own trip from Dec. 13-19 at Breckenridge at the property which will be housing most students on this year’s trip. For the six nights of lodging and 4 days of skiing NU students are getting for $460, I’d be paying $1,730. Not to mention with this year’s lift pass students will be able to ski at Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin or up to two days at Vail. I think I’ll take $460.
Bottom line is, we are working everyday to make an affordable and enjoyable trip happen. So bribe your parents, eat some extra Ramen this month, purchase one less big cup at the Keg, do whatever you have to do to get your ski trip ticket. Sales end today, so get to the box office as soon as you can. I promise you won’t regret it.
