Project Pumpkin organizers had a real scare last week when their annual trick-or-treating event had candy – but almost had no kids.

The company that was supposed to supply 31 buses for more than 1,000 trick-or-treaters canceled at the beginning of last week and left Alyssa Detwiler, Northwestern Community Development Corps Special Events co-chairwoman, scrambling to find a new company. By Wednesday, the group had successfully found a new bus company, allowing the event to go on.
