THURSDAYOn the Road at the Museum of Contemporary Photography. 10 a.m.–8 p.m.The Museum of Contemporary Photography is running a series of exhibits celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. Also appearing are a series of photographs by Dorothea Lange, a famous Depression-era photographer. Admission is free. The exhibit runs until Nov. 1. 600 S. Michigan Ave.FRIDAYThe Hood Internet at Sigma Chi. 11 p.m., $3.This is a must-see. The Hood Internet has been tearing up the blogosphere with their innovative mixtapes. Most recently, they released The Hood Internet v. Chicago, a mash-up of new school artists like Flosstradamus, Cool Kids and Kanye West with old school Chicago blues and funk as backing tracks. Tickets are cheap and the proceeds go to charity.SATURDAYHomecoming Concert at the Keg. 9 p.m.–3 p.m., Cost unknown.Despite recent issues with a cover charge at the Keg (say it out loud if you want to truly appreciate the absurdity), this Homecoming concert is too good to pass up, even for an extra five bucks. Mind at Large always puts on a great live show, and Mo Greene is all over the place, but generally shows the crowd a great time. SUNDAYBallast at the Chicago International Film Festival. 5:15 p.m., $12.This film, set in the Mississippi Delta, has garnered rave reviews on the festival circuit since debuting at Sundance in January. Directed by Lance Hammer and starring a cast of mostly unknown or first-time actors, Ballast is a spare, moving portrait of the rhythms of everyday life for a set of impoverished characters without a clear escape route. 322 E.
