A gas main broke Monday morning while a contractor was doing excavation work near the 2400 block of Oakton Street, in southwest Evanston. (See map.)
No injuries have been reported so far, according to a city press release. Any residents within a six-block radius of the site have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
