When I first saw the article titled “Some city streets will get bike lanes starting this week,” Oct. 9, I was pretty excited. But then I noticed the list of streets part of this revolutionary idea and realized that Sheridan Road was nowhere to be found.
As both a pedestrian and bicycle rider, I believe that the City of Evanston has failed us again. The road with the most bicycle and car traffic is Sheridan.
There is no space on the actual road for a car to pass a bicyclist safely and, I don’t know about you but, getting hit by a car on my way to class does not sound like a good way to start my day.
So, Evanston, do us a favor and put bike lanes where people really need them. Until then, this decision is just a display of ignorance.
