I didn’t have high hopes for Goodbar. I expected it to be good, and I expected it to be a bar. Unfortunately, it really only met one of those expectations. Seeing how this is a bar review, you know where it failed.
Not that the Lincoln Park bar (2512 N. Halsted St.) is awful. It successfully creates a relaxed environment, complete with long leather booths and colorful, candlelit murals, and that’s generally good. The bar also boasts a beer garden terrace supposedly open all year but was curiously closed last Friday, and that’s hypothetically good. As with most bars, though, this attention to detail goes unnoticed when you’re wedged between a girl whose skirt would function better as a babushka and a guy who reeks of J
