An Evanston couple was beaten and robbed Saturday night at the corner of Church Street and Oak Avenue.The victims said they were walking southbound on Oak Street when a group of male teenagers began to punch and kick the victims, Elliot said. The group reportedly acted without provocation.When the female victim fell to the ground, an unknown subject stole her purse, Elliot said. She reported the purse contained a cellular phone and identification.The male victim broke free, grabbed his wife, and they fled the scene to call police, Elliot said.Police searched the downtown area and located a group of eight teenagers of a similar description. Upon further investigation, the victims were able to identify three of the suspects, who were taken into custody for robbery, Elliot said.
