Chase bank in Dominick’s robbed of undisclosed amount

A Chase branch bank located in a Dominick’s grocery store at 1910 Dempster St. was robbed Tuesday afternoon, according to an Evanston Police Department representative. A lone suspect handed a teller a prewritten note announcing the robbery and demanding money, said Police Cmdr. James Elliot. The teller gave the man an undetermined amount of money. Afterwards, the man fled the store, escaping eastbound through the parking lot, Elliot said. The teller described the suspect as a clean-shaven, well-groomed man in his 30s. She said the suspect stood at 5 feet 10 inches and weighed between 170 and 180 lb., according to Elliot. Evanston police are investigating the incident and have notified the FBI, Elliot said, adding that EPD plans to review surveillance tapes from both the store and the bank.
