Chicago men charged with stealing drugs from CVS
Two men stole more than $1,300 of over-the-counter and prescription drugs from CVS Pharmacy, 1711 Sherman Ave., Friday night, said Deputy Chief Joseph Bellino of the Evanston Police Department.
The manager of CVS contacted EPD when she saw two men walk into the store with empty shopping bags and leave with full ones, Bellino said. The manager saw store products sticking out the top of one of the man’s bags as he was walking out.
When the manager tried to stop the man, he ran out the door carrying the bag, Bellino said.
The second man also attempted to exit the store with a full shopping bag of goods, Bellino said.
The manager ordered him to drop the bag. The man then reached into the bag and threw a box of over-the-counter prescription drugs at the manager before running toward the door, Bellino said.
A witness told police he saw two men running toward the Davis Street El station, where officers found the two men, according to Bellino.
The manager identified both of the men, Bellino said.
EPD found a total of 137 goods, including Claritin, Zantac and Rogaine in the men’s possession, with a total value of $1,349, Bellino said.
Chicago residents Leon Williams and Marcus Robinson, both 36, were charged with felony counts of retail theft.
They are scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. May 9 at Circuit Court in Skokie.
