The OfficeThursday, 7:30 p.m.
The American adaptation of the hit British comedy series stars Steve Carell as Michael Scott, an ignorant yet well-meaning boss of a paper company in Scranton, Penn. The documentary-style sitcom makes hysterical use of a great ensemble, awkward interactions and the will-they-or-won’t-they saga that is Jim and Pam.
This week, it’s wedding bells for elder stateswoman Phyllis and Bob Vance, of Vance Refrigeration. In traditional Office style, Michael causes embarrassment after embarrassment. But no matter what happens at the reception, you’ll be laughing all the way through, watching suck-up Dwight search the crowd for wedding crashers.
Studio 60Monday, 9 p.m.
Executive producer Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing), helms dramedy Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, a “behind the scenes” approach to a Saturday Night Live-esque sketch comedy show. The plot revolves around producers Matt Albie (Matthew Perry) and Danny Tripp (Sorkin alumnus Bradley Whitford) as they write sketches, manage cast members, and work through personal relationships all at once.
Monday, in an episode called “The Friday Night Slaughter,” Matt reflects on his on-again, off-again relationship with cast member Harriet. Regardless of the plot, there will probably be lots of scenes involving people walking down hallways while exchanging witty banter.
HouseTuesday, 8 p.m. (FOX)
In this increasingly popular, fast-paced medical drama, cynical, pill-popping genius Dr. Gregory House (Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie) and his team battle a new medical mystery each week. Dr. House never fails to dish out sarcasm along with every diagnosis, all while clashing – and stirring up sexual tension – with his no-nonsense boss Dr. Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein).
On Tuesday’s episode, House repeatedly finds ways to disrupt Dr. Cuddy’s date with a man she met online. We also see team member Eric Foreman (Omar Epps) interact with his new girlfriend. Oh, yeah, and there’s also some car-crash victim who can’t feel pain. Sometimes you forget this is set in a hospital.
