Basketball: Northwestern’s ultimate tease.
They’re supposed to lose, they almost win. They’re supposed to win … they almost win.
But why criticize? This is a young team – and one whose players (and coach, especially) are so open about their shortcomings that they’re impossible to dislike, despite stringing fans along every season with dashed postseason dreams (even if they are of the NIT variety).
Besides, there’s far more depressing stuff to talk about. Like that horse that died, umm … what was his name?
Barbara? Barbados? Bar Chicago?
Point is, NU basketball this year is less a disappointment than a departure – a unique mix of players who show that maybe, just maybe, they have a future.
