Known for their inspired improvisation, the Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee played well into the new year at their Dec. 31 Aragon Ballroom concert. The New Years’ Eve show concluded the band’s three-night stint at the Aragon, complete with Pink Floyd-esque green laser lights and a massive balloon and confetti drop to ring in midnight. Umphrey’s blew out all the stops on their encore, YouTube staple “Dick in a Box.” Originally sketch on Saturday Night Live, the song describes the best gift a girl can receive. With gift boxes dangling from their crotches, Umphrey’s members Brendan Bayliss and Andy Farag happily illustrated the concept. -Justine Reisinger
