With the final game of a season full of missed opportunities and self-defeating mistakes, Northwestern will shift its focus to sending out its seniors with a home victory against in-state rival Illinois on Saturday.
Coach Pat Fitzgerald said he will try to play as many seniors as possible, although two of the 13 graduating players are injured – linebacker Nick Roach (broken leg) and superback Erryn Cobb (ankle).
