Y’know, it’s times like these – as in, whilst composing a final PLAY column – that I’m compelled to reference a poignant scene from MTV’s Laguna Beach. If you’re as shameless as I am, you’ll probably laugh nostalgically. If not, well, you’re probably a douche bag. Either way, I’m telling my story. Behold:It’s a sunny afternoon in Laguna Beach, Calif., and several now-infamous teenagers are waxing philosophical about high school graduation. “Guys,” one muses. “I think we should do a little toast.” “A toast?” replies another, wrinkling her nose in confusion. “To what?” Suddenly, the group’s ringleader – y’all know her as “L.C.” – raises her glass in triumph. “To the end of one chapter of our lives,” she proclaims, “and the beginning of another.” Then, everybody cries.
