Four months after the tragedy, their first mentor at Northwestern still inspires the male freshmen of third floor Elder Hall.
It was last week and halftime in the first playoff game for the IM basketball team championship. Ten members of the third floor Elder team, E3, packed into a tight huddle. They were ranked underdogs against the DU Five, but they were leading by a solid eight points.
“This is a big game,” Weinberg freshman Chad Watkins told his teammates as they huddled. “We have to play a good second half.”
They dispersed with a chant:
