When Northwestern travels to Wisconsin for its final road game of the Big Ten regular season, the Wildcats will be looking for revenge. The team lost to the Badgers 62-60 in their last matchup Jan. 2, when senior guard Melissa Culver’s buzzer-beater rolled in and out of the rim.
With the Badgers on a three-game losing streak, the Cats aren’t facing the same level of competition they faced in their 27-point loss to Penn State on Sunday. But NU still is stuck with the momentum of a six-game losing streak of its own.
Wisconsin will be concentrating on NU junior Ifeoma Okonkwo, who almost recorded a double-double to surprise the Badgers in their last meeting.
One advantage the Cats have over the Badgers, who are eighth in the Big Ten, is some added height since the last time the teams faced each other. NU center Suzanne Morrison was injured when Wisconsin tied NU in rebounds in January. But Morrison has seen more time since then, and the Cats will get an extra boost against the much-taller Badgers.
This is the Cats’ last chance to win a road game in the Big Ten regular season. They have not won away from Welsh-Ryan Arena since beating Towson on a neutral court Dec. 22.
