Eleven-year-old Tyesha Shempert came to Thai Night on Saturday to try something new. She ended up onstage, shoveling fried rice mixed with chilis into her mouth as Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” blasted in the background.
“It felt like my mouth was on fire,” said Shempert, a sixth-grade student at Martin Luther King Jr. Laboratory School in Evanston.
