At first glance, No Doctors looks like they just stepped out of the country bar scene in “Blues Brothers”: the type of band that plays both types of music — country and western.
But, in reality, you are more likely to find them studying in Norris (several members are enrolled at Northwestern) than plucking banjos from behind chicken wire. And musically, they make rockabilly madman Hasil Adkins sound like Phil Collins.
The band has found a home in Chicago, a town where such similarly palette-offending acts as U.S. Maple and the Scissor Girls have found fame. And Chicago should feel lucky to have them.
