Northwestern shut down its Chicago campus this morning in the aftermath of terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
Classes at NU’s Medical School, Law School and School of Continuing Studies were canceled and students and faculty were allowed to go home, said Charles Loebbaka, an NU spokesman.
The Evanston campus remained open.
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley told the press there was no reason for panic.
Both O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport are closed. The Chicago Transit Authority has expanded its service, maintaining a rush-hour schedule throughout the day, said CTA spokeswoman Maria Toscano. Metra trains have also increased service.
