With only three weeks until the Big Ten championships, the women’s golf team heads to Bloomington, Ind., this weekend to face the Midwest.
The No. 14 Wildcats will test their game at the Indiana Invitational against 15 of their counterparts from the Midwest. The tournament includes eight teams in the top 50: No. 11 Ohio State, No. 18 Michigan State, No. 24 Kent State, No. 26 Indiana, No. 27 Michigan, No. 31 Missouri and No. 36 Minnesota.
With eight Big Ten teams playing this weekend, the Indiana Invitational looks like a Big Ten championships preview.
NU will have a rematch against Michigan State, which finished one spot ahead of the Cats at the Liz Murphy Classic in Athens, Ga. NU will also be facing the Buckeyes in tournament play for the second time this spring. The team also finished one spot behind Ohio State at the Mo-Morial in Houston one month ago.
The Cats will once again rely on strong performances from its top two players, sophomore Elizabeth Burden and junior Emily Gilley, as well as freshman Hana Kim and senior Christie Hermes.
Host Indiana has won its invitational in each of the past three years.
The Cats will have one weekend off after the Indiana Invitational. The Big Ten championship begins April 27 in Minneapolis.
