Kay Krieghbaum Memorial Photographic Contest

Kay Kreighbaum was a promising young photographer when she was killed by a hit-and-run driver in 1969, shortly after graduation from NU. She first flourished as a photographer at Northwestern while taking a course at Medill. Her enthusiasm and dedication to photojournalism inspired this event.

Four prizes will be awarded for the best photographs (any subject) taken by a Northwestern University student and published in a print or online publication between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024. Deadline May 31, 2024.

CONTEST RULES

1.) Four photographs will receive awards: 1st Place – $150; 2nd Place – $100; 3rd Place – $75; Hon. Ment. $50

2.) Contestant must have been a full or part-time Northwestern student when the photograph was taken and published.

3.) Contestant may submit up to 5 photos, on any subject, published in any print or online publication between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024.

4.) Deadline for submissions is May 31, 2024 by 5:00 pm.

5.) Please complete the form below and email your photo submissions to [email protected] as attachments.

6.) Each entry is to be submitted as a .jpg file no larger than 2 MB. Please include the photographer name and image ID/slug in the file name. Photographers can submit up to 5 entries. Email your photo submissions to [email protected] as attachments or as a Google Drive folder link, but please set the “General Access” to “Anyone with Link”.

7.) Each photo must be accompanied by proof of publication (either a link or or screenshot).

8.) Judging by the SPC Board of Directors and announcement of the winners will take place over the summer.
