Bob’s Pizza, known for its pickle pizza and Tuesday Trivia Nights, suffered the same fate as other Evanston nightlife hotspots of late when it closed on Oct. 31

616 Davis St. was home to one of four Bob’s locations in the Chicagoland area, but the only one to close.

The spirit of Chicago could be felt throughout the restaurant, which identifies its style as “Pilsen-style pizza,” named after the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago’s Lower West Side.

After getting its start in Evanston as a ghost kitchen during the pandemic, Bob’s Pizza took over the former Whiskey Thief Tavern in 2020. Popular for its late hours, many Northwestern students frequented the establishment.

Tuesday Trivia Nights were a weekly occurrence at Bob’s Pizza, continuing a tradition from the now-closed Tommy Nevin’s Pub. Once the pizza place announced its closure, the company behind Tuesday Trivia night, Go 4 It Entertainment, found a new home: Prairie Moon, located less than a block from Bob’s Pizza.

The closure follows several other late-hour businesses closing their doors in downtown Evanston: Just in the last year, Chili’s and Reza’s Restaurant have also shut down.

An always-popular spot, Bob’s atmosphere will be missed by many.
