Junior Skye Ellis ran the fastest women’s 1,500-meter run in Northwestern history Friday as she and her teammates competed in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan.
Ellis blazed a 4:23.78 1,500 to win the event, finishing nearly two seconds clear of the second-place finisher. The Jan Juc, Australia native has won four events since the Wildcats’ track season began in January.
In addition to the 1,500 record, Ellis also holds the program record in the 800-meter run, which she set when she raced a 2:10.23 at the Blue Demon Alumni Classic in February.
Three places behind Ellis in East Lansing, senior Anna Hightower finished fourth in the 1,500 with a 4:29.66.
Three NU runners competed in the 5,000-meter run: senior Deepti Choudhury, senior Whitney Currie and sophomore Kailey Zagst. Zagst earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 17:56.32, while Currie ran a pace of 18:08.96 to finish in 10th place.
Choudhury, making her debut in the 2024-25 campaign, finished in 21st and ran a 19:12.79.
