After a nationwide search, Corbin Smyth will be the next executive director of Norris University Center, Northwestern announced Tuesday.

Smyth currently serves as associate vice chancellor for student life at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He has overseen the operations of the school’s student union, print shop and sustainability office, among others.

Smyth will succeed Jeremy Schenk, who assumed the position in 2016 and is now the associate vice president for operations and services. Smyth has also managed a variety of events and programs.

Smyth said he is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and accessibility at NU. He said his career has prepared him to foster collaborative leadership.

“Coming to Norris and serving the Northwestern students and community is an incredible opportunity, one that will allow me to establish relationships with high-achieving colleagues in Norris, Student Affairs and across the University,” Smyth said in a Tuesday news release.

Smyth will assume his role as executive director on June 27.
