One injured in shooting on Northwestern’s Chicago campus

At least one person was wounded in a shooting on Northwestern’s Chicago campus early Saturday morning.
A suspect in a silver vehicle shot into a crowd in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue near NU’s Levy Mayer Hall at approximately 2:05 a.m., witnesses told police. The vehicle fled and drove east toward Lake Shore Drive.
The group was not affiliated with Northwestern, University Police Chief Bruce Lewis said in a crime alert to the school community.
One person was shot and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Their condition and the severity of the injury are unknown.
The Chicago Police Department is leading an investigation into the shooting. Northwestern police is reviewing security footage and is encouraging anyone with information to contact the school.
