U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky won re-election to her 10th term in Congress.

The Associated Press called the race for the district at 8:12 p.m. Schakowsky had previously been projected to beat her opponent, Republican pastor John Elleson by a wide margin.

At her election watch party at Rock N Ravioli Tuesday night, Schakowsky said she was heartened by the turnout nationwide.

“I’m still on pins and needles for the House and Senate … but certainly hopeful overall, we’re off to a good start,” she said.
