An Evanston resident was arrested and charged with assault at around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Evanston Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance in the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue in west Evanston at 9:43 a.m. Tuesday, Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said.

The 21-year-old male had a two-by-four in his hands, and had been threatening a 54-year-old male Evanston resident, Glew said. The man said the 21-year-old had been looking for his son, whom he believed had stolen money from his car.

At first, the 21-year-old refused to cooperate with police, but he was taken into custody and charged with assault, a misdemeanor. He will appear in court on Oct. 10.
