Update: Reports of man with gun on campus determined to be hoax, “swatting incident”

Evanston Police officers are responding to reports of shots fired at Emerson Street and Maple Avenue, the department tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

Evanston Police off at a shots fired investigation. Stay out of the area of Emerson and Maple.

In an earlier tweet, Evanston Police said the intersection is closed off and asked people to avoid the area.
