A 22-year-old Evanston resident reported an attempted armed robbery in an alley near the 400 block of Sheridan Road on Sunday.

About 6 p.m., the Evanston man ran to a neighbor and said, “They are going to shoot me, call the police,” Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew told The Daily in an email. The neighbor said he saw two men run south down an alley near Sheridan Square and jump over a fence near the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Glew said.

The man left the area, telling the neighbor he had to “drop something off.” The man then went to a relative’s house and contacted the Evanston Police Department, Glew said.

He reported that two men attempted to rob him then fled, saying the two men displayed a weapon and demanded his property. The Evanston resident told the police the two men did not take anything from him.

Glew said the man would not cooperate any further with the investigation and no further information was taken.
