On Wednesday, a Skokie resident was arrested in connection with domestic battery in south Evanston.

A 33-year-old woman was involved in a verbal dispute with her brother and his girlfriend — the Skokie resident — after they asked to stay the night at her home, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.

Because her brother was intoxicated, the woman did not want him to stay with her. In response, he punched her in the face, which caused her to fall and hit her head.

While she was on the ground, the man’s girlfriend kicked her multiple times, Dugan said. The 33-year-old was transported to Evanston Hospital for treatment.

The brother and his girlfriend fled, and only the girlfriend was found and taken into custody, Dugan said. She was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, but the woman’s brother has not yet been charged.
