Blotter: Evanston man arrested in connection domestic battery

An Evanston resident was arrested Monday in connection with domestic battery in south Evanston.

Officers were dispatched to the man’s home in the 600 block of Sherman Avenue for a domestic dispute, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. His girlfriend stated that they were arguing and then began wrestling over a cell phone.

The man subsequently struck her in the left eye, causing bruising and swelling, Dugan said. She refused medical treatment, and he was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Man arrested in connection with multiple traffic offenses

A man was arrested in connection with three traffic offenses in south Evanston on Tuesday.

The man was stopped in the 2300 block of Howard Street because the driver was talking on a cell phone while driving, Dugan said. Police found he did not have a valid license and could not provide proof of insurance.

The man was charged with not possessing a valid driver’s license, talking on a mobile device while driving and not having proof of insurance. His court date is set for Oct. 4 in Skokie.
