Blotter: Woman arrested in connection with multiple traffic offenses

An Evanston woman was given three traffic citations after a crash in south Evanston on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old woman crashed in an alley in the 700 block of Madison Street, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The woman stated she did not know how to drive and was learning with a friend in the alley.
When she put the car in reverse, she hit a fence, Dugan said. The homeowner was notified of the incident.
The woman was given citations for improper backing, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Man arrested for retail theft in south Evanston
A man was arrested Thursday morning in connection with retail theft in south Evanston.
Officers were dispatched to the CVS in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue, Dugan said, when a male employee said a man entered the store with a plastic bag, put a bottle of Febreze air freshener in the bag and left without paying for it.
Officers located the 44-year-old man in the 7500 block of North Western Avenue in Chicago, Dugan said. He was charged with misdemeanor retail theft.
