Evanston man arrested in connection with domestic battery

An Evanston man was arrested early Monday morning after his girlfriend claimed he briefly dragged her from his car, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.

The 25-year-old woman told police she and the 32-year-old man had an argument over cell phone usage while he was driving on Asbury Avenue, Dugan said. The woman said her boyfriend slowed the car and she tried to get out, but then he sped up again, dragging her legs on the road before she eventually fell out entirely.

The woman called police from the 400 block of Asbury. The man was then arrested at the intersection of Oakton Street and Custer Avenue and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, Dugan said.
