A Chicago man was charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct after allegedly following a 16-year-old girl who was walking in west Evanston and asking for her number.

On April 21 at about 5:00 p.m., the 16-year-old was walking in west Evanston when a bus pulled up next to her, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.

The driver honked at her and asked for her number in the 1900 block of Dewey Avenue, Dugan said. He then followed her on foot in attempt to talk to her, but she continued to ignore him and walked away.

Detectives were assigned to the case and tracked him down, Dugan said. The man was arrested Wednesday and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. He will appear in court on May 17.

A 26-year-old woman reported her vehicle missing in west Evanston on Wednesday.

The 2004 Ford, which was left in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Emerson Street, was taken around 10 a.m., Dugan said.

The woman told officers she had left her keys in the ignition.
