March 10, 2017
A 12-year-old boy was robbed on Wednesday in south Evanston, police said.
The boy was in an alley on Mulford Street at about 5 p.m. when three men approached him, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.
The boy told police that one of the men, who was wearing a black coat and black jogging pants and had dreadlocks with blond tips, demanded the boy empty his pockets and drop his backpack, Dugan said.
When the boy was emptying his pockets, his keys dropped to the ground and were the only items taken, police said. No weapons were used in the robbery, and no one was injured.
