Man shot in west Evanston while sitting in car

A 24-year-old Skokie man was shot in the wrist while sitting in a car in west Evanston early Monday morning, police said.
Evanston police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue just after 1 a.m., according to a news release.
The officers did not locate anything in the area but were notified by officials at Evanston Hospital they were treating a man for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his right wrist. The 24-year-old told officers at the hospital he had been sitting in a rental car on Darrow Avenue when he was shot by an unknown person.
Officers found several bullet holes in the rental car and recovered six shell casings on Darrow Avenue.
