A case of cigars was stolen from the 7-Eleven near campus Evanston early Thursday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven, 817 Davis St., at about 2:30 a.m. after the store’s 22-year-old clerk reported two men wearing Cubs shirts stole a case of 30 Swisher Sweets cigars, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The men, identified as between 20 to 25 years old, fled westward on foot down Davis Street. The case had a value of approximately $100.

Video surveillance has been turned over to the police, Dugan said.

TVs, computers taken from residence

Officers are investigating a residential theft that occurred in the 800 block of Monticello Place on Wednesday afternoon.

A 49-year-old man reported the incident on Wednesday after returning to his home just before 1 p.m. to find his door’s glass smashed and the door open, Dugan said. After entering the house, he noticed he was missing two LG flat screen TVs, an iMac computer, a Macbook Pro, a checkbook, an iPad and a safe containing $1,000 in cash.

The total value of the stolen items adds up to approximately $7,700. There are no suspects or witnesses.
